Treating Spine Pain
The rigor and activities of daily life take a toll on the spine and can cause pain that limits your ability to walk, run or be physically active. At CHRISTUS Health our board certified neurosurgeons, spine and orthopedic surgeons use the latest therapies to treat and reduce back and neck pain, and numbness in the arms and legs from a spinal condition.
The spine is the body's main support structure. It includes discs that sit between and cushion 33 bones called vertebrae. The hollow space inside the vertebrae is the spinal canal. This is where spinal nerves - which send signals to the rest of your body - begin.
Conditions and Treatment
Injuries and medical conditions can damage the spine and its discs. A weak spine can cause a narrowing of the spinal canal, shrinking discs or moving discs. These changes in spinal alignment may put pressure on or pinch the spinal nerves.
